They may not look scary to you, but the Doctor Who monsters have scared generations of children to the point where "behind the sofa" has become a meme in the UK. But when I first started watching the show, the Doctor's arch nemesis The Daleks, were a mystery to me. I didn't understand why they had become such a cultural phenomenon.
