When Graeme Manson started as a showrunner for Orphan Black, he needed to create villains on the cutting edge of DIY science, who believe humans should take control of their own evolution.  He found inspiration in the real-life movement of Transhumanists, who advocate using tech to improve our bodies, and live well beyond our natural life span. Natasha Vita-More says the Transhumanist vision of the future is not science fiction, even if it's inspired by sci-fi. But journalists like Elmo Keep have been asking tough questions -- like whether only the rich could afford to live forever.
